The Perfect Winter Escape
Located just outside Glacier National Park in Montana, The Great Bear Inn is an inspired setting for a perfect winter escape. Take advantage of our fantastic winter rates for a Montana getaway that you and your family will never forget!
Winter comes early to our area, so by late November most years, guests can cross country ski or snowshoe directly from our back door and explore the forest and trails that surround the Inn. Areas of the Park that are busy in the summer offer solitude and an escape from your hectic day to day life.
Imagine an evening snowshoe with your family, and then returning to the Inn to relax in our Great Room around a roaring fire while your dinner is being prepared for you. This is what a Montana winter escape is all about!
Our location only 5 minutes from the West Gate of Glacier National Park will allow you to enjoy the splendor of Glacier's winter landscape on the winter trails in the Park. Explore hundreds of miles of trails in Glacier National Park, the Flathead National Forest, and throughout the valley. For more information on the cross country ski and snowshoe trails easily reached from the Inn, download Cross Country Skiing Montana's Flathead Valley.
For a unique winter experience, how about dog sledding? Our winter wilderness offers a glimpse into an ancient mode of transport, when life was slower and people were one with the natural world around them. For those wanting a little more adrenalin, local guides can take you on a snowmobiling adventure of the area, or will drop the snow machines off at the Inn for you to explore the area on your own. For more information on snowmobiling in the area, download Snowmobiling Montana's Flathead Valley.
If downhill skiing or snowboarding is more your thing, Whitefish Mountain Resort at Big Mountain is less than an hour away.
Now imagine having all of your breakfast and dinner arrangements available at the Great Bear Inn. You won't need to make dinner reservations and drive thirty minutes to the nicer restaurants in the area or wait to be seated. Your nightly rate includes an upscale multi-course dinner in addition to the Continental Breakfast served each morning.
